I Apologize profusely over the very shoddy camera work . The camera
was on everybody but Stracy and she was the honoree. I hope you can
believe me when I tell you I have been very sick and I could barely
stand up all night. Again I hope my apologies are accepted. Shout out
to Stracy Diaz

Headliners for the SOS Spring Fever Jam Salsa Jam 2006
Sekou McMiller and Cristina Zavala two of the hottest dancers on the scene today , will be coming to DC as the head liners for the StuckOnSalsa Spring Fever Salsa Jam 2006. Sekou McMiller , the Artistic Director of the Descarga Caribe Dance Co out of Chicago is not only a fabulous dancer, he is a great choreographer but of the many talents of Sekou, his teaching skillls just might be what impresses me the most about him.. He is an excellent instructor and if you think about it , you have never seen him have under 50 people in any of his classes at any Congress . There are usually a lot more 50 but never under. Sekou's Afro Cuban Body movement class is always on any person's who is attending a Major Congress to do list. That class is high priority.
Ask around, Ask Shaka about him ,ask PsyonMauricio about him. Google him and see what comes up. He has a uncanny way of getting his points across to dancers very quickly and his classes are very structured to have you moving your body like you never have even imagined, trust me this guy is the real salsa deal. Hate to say it but if you don't know you better ask some body. . He has been an instructor at all the Major Congresses and has performed and is known around the world. Don't miss your chance to learn from one of Salsa's hottest instructors, performers and choreographers out today! http://www.descargacaribedance.com/

It's not easy being a salsero in DC
It's not easy being a salsero in DC . There are always salsa options 7 nights a week unlike most places in the United States. Some times it's hard to decide where to go but that is a good problem I would take any day of the week. I do no think you can name over 5 cities that have at least 2 decent salsa options 7 days a week. If you can you are real good and let me know once you get past 5. And for the benefit of the salseros things are only going to get better. The popularity of salsa dancing is more widespread than one can imagine, especially in the DC Metropolitan area. The past summer I saw Eileen Tories have over 800 students in her class at the Kennedy Center outside on the Terrace and I had not never seen any of them before. That's when I realized how big this thing we do called salsa is. The one thing that I like about Caribbean Breeze is each week there are always a lot of new faces that I see each week and that is great to see.

DC Congress is going to be Salsa Bananas this year
Shaka Brown and David Melendez have a great line up of instructors and performers for this year's DC Salsa Ccongress 2006 . This one is going to be crazy. Better ballroom and a better Facility than last year, we will partying all weekend long from June 10-June 12, 2006. To register for DC Salsa Congress log on to www.stuckonsalsa.com This Congress will be one of the best this year for sure.DC's own La Romana will be providing the live music and There will be some of salsa's hottest Djs all week end long. The salseros in Washington, DC are probably the most hospitable and friendliest scenes in the world. So Come to the world's Capital and see how we do Salsa DC Style.
Caribbean Breeze is Picking Up
The past weekend it was real cold and I did not expect a lot of people to go out but to my surprise Caribbean Breze was hopping on Friday night. The night is steadily growing and I think it is only going to get better once more people know that DJ Andy is playing nothing but salsa.mambo and Cha Cha all night long. The food at Caribbean Breeze is excellent and the drinks are off the chain. With ambiance and great music this place is hard to beat on a Friday Night.
The Women in Salsa
To me the Women in Salsa is always one of the Biggest salsa nights in DC every year. All the Salseros alwasy come for the Women in Salsa and the Men in Salsa. This year there will be 9 groups performing and there will be 5 women honored for their acomplishments in the world of Salsa. Two of the ladies that I know personally DJ Elvira and Mambo Diva Stracy Diaz will be honored this year. This event is hosted by Eileen Torres the queen of Salsa on Washignton, DC . The only bad thing about the Women in Salsa is a lot of the women do not go out dancing for a 2 month period because they want to make sure their routine is just right for the Women in Salsa and so for a 2 month period a lot of the good lady dancers do not go out and the salseros have to suffer. I cannot wait for this year's show
